MYRON ELKINS
Elkins, originally a Michigan native, had no intention of making it in the music industry for most of his life. After graduating high school, he aspired to be a welder in his hometown; planning on making this his full-time career while playing local gigs as a hobby. However, the singer placed second in his local ‘Battle Of The Bands’, introducing him to a whole new career path. The aspiring country artist fell in love with songwriting and performing, quickly cultivating an audience upon moving to Music City. His album Factories, Farms, & Amphetamines was partly written while Elkins was working as a welder, and the ten-track album breaks down his upbringing in Michigan’s working-class as well as his fresh headway into the music scene.
Reminiscent of Johnny Cash, Sam Cooke, and Ray Charles, “Nashville Money” is a groovy country-rock ballad you’ll have on repeat. Lyrically, Elkins discusses his conflicting emotions about pursuing a path in the music industry. With lines like, “Washing all the doubts down the drain, show me where and how to put my pain,” the singer expresses how ‘Nashville Money’ is a metaphor for how difficult success can be to navigate. Elkin’s powerful Americana voice draws listeners in immediately, sonically making up a fusion of southern rock and country blues. Additionally, the album was masterfully produced by six-time Grammy-winning producer Dave Cobb, who successfully launched the careers of many legends. Cobb has worked with the likes of Chris Stapleton, Sturgill Simpson, and Jason Isbell; making this record a must-listen-to success.
BILLY GUNTHER AND THE MIDWEST RIDERS
Full of drive and passion, the Midwest Riders launched in Flint Michigan and their inaugural show was opening for The Swon Brothers in 2019. After writing original material and touring, the Riders’ rapid success was slowed but not halted when the world shut down in 2020. Determined to stay engaged and active, they built their own home studio, immersed themselves creatively and a first album was born. “Countryish” was recorded at the legendary Sound Emporium Studios in 2020 in Nashville, TN with some of the best players in the industry. Inspired by the roots of Southern rock and country music, torn by the feel of funk and soul, the Riders are now working on their second studio album at Rust Belt Studios. Their talent and camaraderie continues to energize and mesmerize audiences from the midwest to the deep south.
